We put Netflix on hold about 9 months ago. Every 90 days or so, I’d get an email and it would ask me if I wanted to remain on hold. Somehow I forgot it this last go around. I don’t check the email it goes to very often. Note to self: START DOING THIS.
Anyway, we were charged today and now have three movies that I’ve never heard of coming our way. Which is all well and good. However, I’m at a loss with movies right now. I am sure there are tons that we never saw or ones that we saw in the theater and never thought of again, that I’d enjoy.
This is where you come in. Without you, I will aquiest to my daughters and in seconds my Queue will be filled with Hannah Jonas goes to jail for trying to be too much like Brittany movies.
What have you seen lately that you loved? What have you not seen that you thought looked good by the previews? What is your favorite movie of all time? What is your favorite TV show that is on DVD? I realized today, there are tons that people adore that I’ve never seen a single episode of.
Hook a girl up, will ya? It’ll be cold here very soon, so I’ll likely leave Netflix on until Spring.
ps. No scary flicks please. I mean, you can mention them, but I won’t watch them. Am big wuss.
pps. Yes, I know, two lame posts this week. Promise I have something real soon. Once I get over the plague and can get it out of my head.
well when it comes out on dvd, rent The Proposal. HILARIOUS.

Actually I thought 17 Again was cute and of course the girls will love it. I love you Man was very funny, just watched it this weekend.
Gran Torrino was excellent. Have Sunshine Cleaning to watch. Don’t hold me to these. I love movies but sometimes the ones that other people don’t like, I like allot. I just put a piece of paper next to my computer and when I watch a movie and I like it, I will write it down for you. We watch tons of movies but when I am questioned I go blank!

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was ok and Rachel Getting Married was good.
I loved Confessions of a Shopaholic, I read the entire book series, and the movie combines the first 2 books, but was great.
He’s Just Not That Into You was ok, but a total chick flick.
Revolutionary Road was good, I didn’t ever finish the book, so I can’t compare’em.

A couple of older recommendations that I enjoyed: Hunting Party with Richard Gere and Terrance Howard, Get Smart with Steve Carrell (sp?), Hancock with Will Smith, Yes Man with Jim Cary (sp?)
We usually borrow from the library, that’s why my selections are all older movies, but still good ones. At least I thought so!

My mom was pumped because she found out she could go back and watch all of Northern Exposure.

I am so excited to get 30-Somethings on DVD. I was too young to care when it was on tv, but now I’m really interested in watching. Also the earlier seasons of Mad Men, Dexter and Weeds.
As for movies, we finally watched The Wrestler, which was okay but kind of weird. Also enjoyed Nick & Nora’s Infinite Playlist, Frost/Nixon and Milk.
The kids loved Race to Witch Mountain and Bedtime Stories.

I hardly ever see movies, but I loved Seven Pounds, saw that recently. Sort of a drama, but not painful to go through. I just rented that Benjamin Button movie, but haven’t watched it yet, though it looks good.

I am obsessed by watching the TV series “The Wire.” OMG so good.
A little-heard movie I would rec is “The Band’s Visit.” It is so cute and charming and funny, and totally different from anything I had ever seen before. Check it out.

I am a big fan of warm and fuzzy Foreign Films, and two of the best are Bread and Tulips (Italy) and Kitchen Stories (Norway/Sweden). Joyeux Noel (French, British, German) is a wonderful Wartime Christmas one. I also liked Hero (China) but that’s definitely not a fuzzy.
A few more I recommend are Goodbye, Lenin! (Germany), Advertising Rules! (Germany), Run Lola Run (Germany), and Die Edukators (Germany).
And yes, I see the German Theme.
